Teaching with Technology

A portfolio of work done by Joelle DelPrete

About Me

Hi! I'm currently earning my master's degree in Media Studies and Production at Temple University. Through school, internships, and work experiences, I've realized that I love sharing my passions with others, and teaching media is a long-term goal of mine.
With a strong background in photography, videography, and social media, I am eager to bring various types of technology into the classroom. This portfolio showcases the best of my work, demonstrating how I can develop students' critical thinking, creativity, and communication abilities utilizing technology.

My teaching philosophy is to encourage passion in students by being passionate myself. As an educator in media and communication, my goal is to equip students with the confidence and skills necessary for success in their field.

Integrating technology is fundamental to my teaching approach as a communications instructor.

My primary goal is to bring this passion for technology into the classroom and to equip students with both practical skills and a deeper understanding of its applications.

Video Lecture & Assignment

This short video lecture filmed on Panopto integrates a PowerPoint slideshow with images and videos. This was created with an online learning environment in mind; short and engaging. Additionally, there is a follow up assignment to assess students knowledge after completing the video lecture, which you can see by clicking the button below.

Interactive Lecture

I have also made the match cut lecture interactive using the application Poll Everywhere. There are five survey questions- including open-ended, multiple choice, and polls. I like this polling system as it is anonymous, so students might feel more comfortable commenting. Click through the PDF below to see the lecture!

A Sample Assignment using Social Media

This assignment is designed to help students understand brand cohesiveness and visual branding using social media platforms like Instagram or Pinterest. Students are tasked with creating a visually cohesive feed for a fictional company, writing a paper detailing their social media strategy, and giving constructive peer feedback. The assignment includes detailed instructions on how to use social media as well as a rubric with a point break down.
